How to do analysis of Truss Using Method of Joints

In this tutorial, we are going to analyze the truss using method of joint.

R_{A =} load/2 = 1000/2 = 500 N

R_B = load/2 = 1000/2 = 500 N

For joint A,

∑F_v = 0

500 – F_AC sin 30⁰ = 0

500 = F_AC sin 30⁰

Which is equal to, 500/ sin 30^{0 =} F_AC sin 30⁰/ sin 30⁰ = 1000 N

For example, ∑F_X = 0

F_AB + F_AC cos30⁰ = 0

F_AB = - F_AC cos30⁰ = - (1000) cos30⁰ = - 866 N

F_AC = 1000 N

F_BC = 1000 N

F_AB = - 866 N

F_BA = - 866 N
