What would happen to your strength if the toe of your retaining wall broke off?

What would it have an effect on? What is the affect?

What is affects is your overturning as your overturning moment is still the same whereas your resistance has gone down as now you have dropped a cut-off of 1 and ½ feet on your moment arms. This is a big decrease in your resisting moment.

What is does it affects is your overturning. It affects sliding; however it is unimportant for the reason that the only thing you lose on sliding is a weight which is quite small compared to the principal weight.

Therefore, breaking the toe on retaining wall gives rise to an effect on overturning. In case toes are cut off, what would take place is you could slide along and fall off but you couldn’t walk. As a result, that is a cantilevered retaining wall.
