In
this construction video tutorial, the renowned engineer Swati Sen provides some
useful tips on how to calculate number of rise and treads of staircase.
This
is a section of staircase (see below figure). The vertical line is rise and
horizontal line is tread.
Now
come to figure 2 here the building horizontal height is 10 feet and 6 inch and
total tread is 15 feet.
Not
we have calculated number of rise and tread here:
Desired
Unit Rise = 6”
Number
of Rise = Height of Building / Rise = 10’6”/6” = 21 no. of rise
Number
of Tread = No. of Rise – 1
Number
of Tread = No. of Rise – 1 = 21 – 1 = 20 no. of Tread
Tread
= Total Tread / No. of Tread = 15’/10 = 0.75’ = 0.75’x12 = 9”
So,
we are getting Number of Rise = 21 nos
Number
of Tread = 20 nos
Tread
= 9”
